The Chicago White Sox and Univision Radio’s La Tremenda (WRTO 1200 AM) have extended their agreement to broadcast select home games in Spanish for a third consecutive season in 2007. There are 38 scheduled Spanish broadcasts of White Sox games for the 2007 season, an increase of seven games from last year.
“We are thrilled about bringing White Sox baseball to our Spanish-speaking fans again in 2007,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox vice president and chief marketing officer. “The White Sox have a deep-rooted relationship with Chicago’s Latino community and based on fan response to broadcasts on La Tremenda, we are excited about providing even more game coverage this season.”
Veteran Chicago sportscaster Hector Molina returns as the play-by-play voice of the White Sox on La Tremenda in 2007, with Ozzie Guillen Jr., son of White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, providing color commentary. Molina has served as play-by-play announcer of the White Sox for the past two seasons and previously served in the same role from 1992-1999. Guillen will enter his third year as color analyst on the broadcast.
“Univision Radio is very proud of the relationship with the White Sox,” said Jerry Ryan, vice president and general manager of Univision Radio Illinois. “White Sox baseball is a passion of the Latino community in Chicago, and La Tremenda is proud to fuel that passion.”
La Tremenda will present its first Spanish-language broadcast of 2007 on Friday, April 6, when the White Sox host the Minnesota Twins at 7:11 p.m. at U.S. Cellular Field. Nineteen of the 38 games broadcast on La Tremenda also will be available on Comcast SportsNet via the SAP channel.
