Bradley Bell has been named general manager of the a newly formed team that will be in Aiken,SC, while Scott Lefler has been named assistant GM. The team will play in the Southern Coast League.

Bell, a graduate of North Carolina State, comes to Aiken from Myrtle Beach, where he served on the staff of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, a Carolina League affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

“He brings a lot of experience to the table,” League chief operating officer Chris Allen. “He’s a strong salesman, and a real pro. I think he’ll do a great job for us.’’

The Aiken team will play its home games at USC Aiken, beginning in May 2007.

The league is currently holding a contest to name the team from among five finalists chosen from more than 1,100 submissions. As of Monday, Allen said the Foxhounds (149) and Blueticks (140) were the top two vote-getters. The other three finalists are Horseflies (82), Chukkers (71) and Boots (49).
